What are the technology & system requirements for online classes? 1. Internet Connection: A T1, Cable, or DSL connection is best. A 56k modem will also work, but at a noticeably slower rate 2. Browser: Internet Explorer (5.0 or higher), Firefox (2.0 or higher) Do I need to install special software on my computer to participate in online classes? No. However, if you need to have the google talk installed in your computer and have a valid email id in gmail. What is the course about? The course aims to give students a basic knowledge of Hindi, enabling them to understand how the language works and to start communication in Hindi in various situations. What topics will we cover? Telling the time, days of the week, talking about daily routine, saying what you want in a shop or restaurant, reading and writing basic Hindi words/phrases. By the end of this course you should be able to: - tell the time and talk about your daily routine - ask for something in a shop - order food in a restaurant - have a good understanding in Hindi - communicate effectively What level is the course and do I need any particular skills? You will need to understand basic spoken and written information in English (e.g. simple instructions, course documents) and be at ease with the use of numbers for daily activities (e.g. using money, telling the time etc). No specific skill is necessary to learn the course How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class? Communicative approach with the emphasis on speaking and listening skills. Methods include question and answer, pair and group work, role play [ for live in person classes ] .Please note students are expected to participate in oral classroom activities. For online classes mere participation in classes is sufficient. Completing the previous session’s home based activity is needed for attending the next online session Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring? No. 50 % advance payment has to be remitted while enrolling for the class Do I need to have an interview before I can enrol? No. What feedback will I get? You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. How will I be able to give my views on the course? Please complete the evaluation form at the end of your course. These are monitored and help us to continually improve our courses. When I've finished, what course can I do next?
